Bhubaneswar/Dhenkanal/Paradip: At least four persons were killed and three others, including a three-year-old girl sustained injuries in three separate road accidents in Bhubaneswar, Dhenkanal and Paradip today.

An elderly man of Patapur Nimapara in Puri district, who had come to see his ailing grandson undergoing treatment at the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, was killed when a car hit him in front of the hospital this morning.

His son Girish said, “My father had come to see my ailing son, who is being treated at the Capital Hospital. Since he didn’t turn up, I called him to found that he died in an accident.”

In another incident, tension prevailed after two persons were killed and two others injured in a head to head collision between a truck and an auto- rickshaw near Sakti Sugar Mills in Dhenkanal.

The mishap occurred when the auto-rickshaw ferrying five passengers collided with a speeding truck. One of the deceased has been identified as Ranjan Pradhan.

According to reports, Ranjan along with his wife and 3-year-old daughter was returning after attending a marriage function when the mishap occurred on National Highway 55.

Ranjan’s wife and daughter, who sustained multiple injuries in the road accident, are now undergoing treatment in Dhenkanal Hospital and their condition is said to be stable.

Similarly, a 10-wheeler truck ran over a person killing him on the spot in port area of Paradip. A person was also injured in the mishap and later admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.
