Four elephants rescued from well in Ganjam

Berhampur:It was a providential escape for four elephants, including two calves which had fallen into two separate wells in Tarasingh Forest Range of North Ghumusar forest division on Saturday.

According to sources, two mother elephants and their calves had fallen into two separate open wells in Dubapalli and Sisulunda areas. It is suspected that the animals had gone to the areas in search of water when the incident occurred.

Getting information, forest officials reached the spot and safely rescued the elephants and their calves with the help of JCB machines.

Hundreds of people from nearby areas thronged the rescue site to have a glimpse of the baby elephants.
