After lodging a complaint against the four, the Sundergarh Child Welfare Committee (CWC) rescued the newborn girl, who was abandoned by her mother at Hatibari PHC in the district last year. The CWC officials later handed over the custody of the girl to Child Disha, a voluntary outfit.

It may be mentioned here that an unmarried woman had given birth to a girl at Hatibari PHC on November 17, 2017. A staff nurse and ASHA worker had handed over the newborn to a man and his wife who is the cook of Karkatnasa Anganwadi Centre in Nuagaon block.
