Brajrajnagar: Police today arrested and court-forwarded four accused in connection with the gang rape of a 47-year old woman at Chichinda village under Brajrajnagar police limits in Jharsuguda district.

The arrested have been identified as Surendra Mirdha, Sadanand Kulu, Gobinda Mirdha and Janeka Mirdha, all of whom belong to Chichinda.

At a Press meet, Brajrajnagar SDPO Nrupacharana Dandasena said, “It is found that the four arrested have actually committed the crime. All of them were arrested and forwarded to court today. The case is under investigation.”

It may be mentioned here that the woman was allegedly gang raped by the miscreants on June 16. Police had rescued her from her house and admitted her to Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

The rape survivor is a daily labourer and stays alone at home, sources said.
