Former Nilagiri MLA Chitta Ranjan Sarangi hospitalised

Balasore: Former Nilagairi MLA Chittaranjan Sarangi has been admitted to a hospital after he complained of chest pain.

As per sources, on Wednesday night, Sarangi had an altercation with the local Tehsildar protesting an eviction drive on his residence.

After the incident, the Tehsildar had lodged a complaint at Nilagiri police station alleging Sarangi of misconduct following which the MLA was apprehended.

Sarangi along with his wife was detained at the police station till late night and was released later after interrogation.

After being released from the police station, Sarangi complained of chest pain and was rushed to Nilagiri hospital, informed sources. However, he has been shifted to Balasore district headquarters hospital after his condition worsened.
