Bhubaneswar:  Already in the eye of the storm after being caught from a spa in Kolkata, former Dhenkanal MLA Nabin Nanda on Tuesday lashed out at the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) for suspending him without issuing any show-cause notice.

Nanda further alleged that he has been a victim of the ongoing wrangle between the third floor and former Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda. Moreover, Nanda said that Panda was targeted for tweeting about him.

Expressing concerns over the state of affairs in BJD, Nanda alleged that  it is the same 'coterie' of tainted leaders who have been either caught in viral videos and chit fund scam that is calling the shots in BJD.

"BJD has history of dumping people after using them. I was just a suspect in the case, and without seeking any clarification or explanation, I was suspended," said Nanda.

The former MLA further stated that "Was I in BJD that they have suspended me? After the midnight coup operation by former bureaucrat Pyarimohan Mohapatra, we from NCP had joined BJD on June 5 in 2012 just to save the party. But the party (BJD) neglected me and I was also not given a ticket."

"As I was not holding any post in BJD, suspension, dismissal from party holds no significance as I had earlier informed CM Naveen Patnaik that I would contest elections whether given ticket or not," he added.

Nanda vented his anger a day after he was suspended from BJD yesterday. He was arrested on Saturday evening from a spa in Park Street, Kolkata under Immoral Trafficking Act and was granted bail on Sunday.

Sources said a case under Indian Penal Code Section 120B read with 3/4/5/7/18 I.T (P) Act has been registered against 18 persons including Nanda, nine sex workers and three clients who were nabbed from the spa in Kolkata.

Nanda on the other hand had rubbished such allegations and maintained that he had not visited the spa with ‘any wrong intention.’ Rather, he was detained by police after he entered the spa during an attempt to chase a pickpocket.
