Bhubaneswar: The decks have been finally cleared for Chandan Nayak, the promising 11-year old football player of the Sabar Sahi slum in the city, to visit Germany, where he will undergo a two-month training at the iconic football club Bayern Munich as an academy player, after he got the visa for the visit.

Nayak is scheduled to leave for Germany tomorrow morning.

“We had faced great difficulties in getting the visa. Finally, we went to Kolkata and got the visa. I thank my coach because of whose efforts I could get the passport and visa. I will leave my house at 8 AM tomorrow to catch the flight at 10 AM on the way to Germany”, Chandan told OTV this evening.

“Chandan has got the flight ticket to Germany. Tomorrow he will catch the Air India flight to Mumbai from where he will head for Germany. My best wishes are always with him. I had managed to avail all the required documents for his visit to Germany,” Chandan's coach Jayadev Mohapatra said.

Thanking the media, he said without its help it would not have been possible for Chandan to avail this unique opportunity. “I specially thank OTV. It is due to the efforts of the channel that the government provided us all support,” he added.

Mohapatra said he had to run from pillar to post to get the all-important visa for Chandan. “The visa could be arranged with the intervention of Union Petroleum and Natural Gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Union Foreign Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj ,” he pointed out.
