Fire tender overturns, driver killed

Nabarangpur: The driver of a fire tender was killed while three other firefighters have been injured in a road mishap on state highway no 39 near Jamrunda. The deceased has been identified as Purna Chandra Jani.

According to reports, nearly four personnel of the Odisha Fire Services were returning after attending an emergency call at Taraguda village when the fire tender overturned near Jamrunda late on Friday night.

It is suspected that the mishap occurred due to some technical glitch in the vehicle. According to reports, the driver lost control and the vehicle started swinging sideways and later overturned.

Three injured firefighters have been admitted to district headquarters hospital in Nabarangpur while their condition is said to be critical.
