Nayagarh: The State Fire Services department today conducted an inspection at various hospitals in three districts-Nayagarh, Dhenkanal and Jagatsinghpur- to check proper implementation of fire safety and fire prevention norms.

DG (Fire Services) BK Sharma said the fire officials conducted inspection at around 30 premier hospitals and private nursing homes in Nayagarh, Dhenkanal and Jagatsinghpur districts to check execution of Odisha Fire Safety and Fire Prevention Rules, 2017.

Sharma said, “Special teams, with 10-members each, have been formed for each district. Each team has been divided into two groups for the inspection at the hospitals and nursing homes.”

He said, in the first phase notice will be served if any of the medical institutions is found to have flouted the rules. Even after that if the institution does not abide by the rules, action will be taken.

Moreover, the Odisha Fire Safety and Fire Prevention Rules, 2017 has also provision to seal hospitals flouting the norms, Sharma added.
