Dhenkanal: Over 50 families were rendered homeless after their houses were reduced to ashes in a series of fire mishaps in the last six days in Kandarasinga village under Kamakhyanagar police limits in the district.

In a span of six days, as many as 40 houses of more than 50 families have been reduced to ashes in the village due to regular fire outbreak incidents leading to loss of property worth lakhs of rupees.

Earlier on Thursday evening, 16 families were rendered homeless after a massive fire engulfed more than 25 houses in the village. Locals and fire fighters later brought the fire under control.

Similarly, more than 18 houses were gutted in separate fire incidents in the village over last few days.
