The move is expected to throw more light on the incident with a hope to retrieve footage of the CCTV cameras as the cops suspect some tampering with the settings in date of the electronic device.

“We have sent the hard disk to retrieve data and only after we get detailed reports from several agencies including fire a clear picture will emerge,” said DCP Satyabrat Bhoi.

Pal Heights owner Satpal Singh’s younger son Gaganpal Singh (39), his daughter-in-law Bhavna (38), granddaughter Suhavi (12), grandson Ruveer (4)and a 12-year-old girl identified as Tanu Das, who worked as a domestic help in their house were killed in the fire mishap.

Gaganpal and Bhavna were charred to death while the three children died due to suffocation.

Three rooms on the second floor of the three-storey palatial building located on Cuttack Road were gutted in the fire. The couple was sleeping in one room while their two children along with the domestic help Tanu were sleeping in an adjacent room.
