Fire breaks out at Sports Emporium in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A major fire broke out at the Sports Emporium near Jaydev Vihar of the capital city on Wednesday night.

The incident took place at around 10 pm creating panic in the locality. Reports said people, who were near the sports complex, first noticed smoke emitting and soon informed the police. Subsequently, fire brigade was informed who rushed to the spot immediately.

Three fire tender units were pressed into service to douse the flames and it took almost four hours to bring the fire under control.

Sources claim property worth crores of rupees was destroyed in the blaze. However, the exact cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained.

While the first floor containing all the sports items has been gutted completely, the fitness equipment in the upper floor has also been affected by the blaze.
