Kendrapara: Panic gripped attendants after fire broke out in the pediatric ward of Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) on Saturday. However no causalities were reported in the mishap.
Although the exact reason is yet to be ascertained, it is being suspected that an electric short circuit might have triggered the fire.
According to reports, smoke filled the entire pediatric unit of the DHH which caused a flutter among attendants who then immediately rushed out of the unit.
"The wires in the room started burning after which the room was engulfed with smoke. Later, we ran out of the ward with our children," said an attendant.
On being informed, fire brigade officials rushed to the spot and managed to douse the flames.
"Everybody started screaming and I also took my babies and ran out of the ward. Later, the officials doused the flames by using fire extinguishers," said another attendant.
