Bhubaneswar: Odia filmmaker Sisir Purushottam Mishra today slammed the Odisha government for ignoring him despite his significant contributions to the film industry for more than a decade and a half.
Mishra stated that he has lifelong dedicated himself for the development of Odia film industry, but his efforts were never recognised by the Odisha government.
Mishra has been named in the list of 2018 Padma Shri awardees in Arts/Cinema category from Maharashtra. However, the filmmaker criticised the Odisha government for not proposing his name.
“I have given my life for the Odia film industry. However, the State government has shown no interest to propose my name for the award. I should have been awarded with Padma Bhusan instead,” said Mishra.
“People who are aware about the industry consider me the ‘Dronacharya’ and a living legend of Odia cinema. But the state government never considered me worthy enough,” Mishra added.
