Bhubaneswar: Demanding waiver on agriculture loans, price, prestige, and pension for farmers and holding protests over the killing of farmers in police firing in Madhya Pradesh, various farmers association have taken to streets today under Navanirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) banner to observe a symbolic two-hour bandh.

The agitation started from 10 am and will continue till 12 pm. All national highways and railway routes across the State will be blocked by the farmers.

NKS has stated that the agitation will continue till the farmers are not provided with their rights.

"Symbolic bandh will be observed for two hours in Odisha, during which we have instructed to stall bus and train services. We are warning State and Central Governments that if they do not heed to our demands within six months, the agitation will be intensified," said Convenor of NKS Akshaya Kumar.

Paschim Odisha Krushak Sangathan Samanwaya Samiti (POKSSS) along with various farmers association of Odisha have extended support to the agitation.

As per latest reports, farmers blocked Rameswaram Express at Bhubaneswar Railway Station and staged road blockades on National Highway-55 at Siminai in Dhenkanal, National Highway-26 in Balangir and National Highway-49 in Keonjhar.
