Jajpur: The Nabanirman Krusak Sangathan today held a farmers’ rally demanding price, prestige and pension for farmers.

The farmers’ organisation threatened to gherao the State Assembly in December if its demands are met in two months.

Akshaya Kumar, Convener of the Nabanirman Krusak Sangathan, said, “In every district famers will fight for price, prestige and pension in coming days. If the State government does not pay any heed to our demands in two months, we will gherao the collector’s office. Besides, one lakh farmers will gherao the State Assembly in December.”

Expressing similar views, Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, chairman, Ama Odisha, said, “The farmers are asking for prestige, pension and right price of its agricultural produce. Today in Jajpur the rally is held, in another 29 districts the rally will be held in coming days.”
