Farmers block road demanding release of water into Taladanda canal

Tirtol: More than hundred farmers of four panchayats under Raghunathpur block today blocked Cuttack-Paradip road near Jaipur demanding immediate release of water into Taladanda and its branch canals.

They alleged that due to lack of water in the canals paddy farming has been affected and repeated pleas to the local administration and Water Resources department have only fallen on deaf ears.

After receiving information, local police officials reached the spot and tried to pacify the agitating farmers of Chhapada, Erdanga, Bidyadharpur and Puruna Basant panchayats. But they were firm on their demands and said the Jagatsinghpur Collector and Water resources officials should reach the spot and assure immediate release of water.
