Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan slammed the Odisha government today over farmer deaths and issues plaguing the farming community.
The State government is corrupt and inefficient, alleged Pradhan. The government is a murderer, it is announcing packages after killing the farmers, he added.
Targeting Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik indirectly, Pradhan said, "Yours is not only a corrupt, inefficient and unsympathetic government but it is also a murderer. You are planning for the despair of Odisha farmers as you will get a chance to announce packages."

Reacting to Pradhan's allegations, BJD spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Pratap Deb said the comments of Pradhan are contradictory and irrelevant and are politically-motivated.
"If BJP taking to streets over farmer deaths is not politics, then what is it? The political parties should think if it is right to politicise the distress of farmers," said Deb.
