According to an FIR filed by Babaji Padhan, a local BJD leader Ranjan Acharya had called Padhan and his kin to join the rally on August 18. However, Padhan skipped the agitation due to some personal work. Irked, Ranjan allegedly thrashed him, his daughters and two sons-in-law and threatened them to leave the village, Padhan stated further in the FIR.

Padhan, after lodging the complaint, has taken shelter at an Anganwadi centre in neighbouring village with his family.

“As they did not allow us to live in the village, we have moved to Sasanga village and taken shelter at the Anganwadi centre for last seven days. We have registered a complaint with police and are waiting for justice,” the complainant said.
