Malkangiri: Maoists threat forced a family of Paparmetla Palem village in the district to leave home and take shelter in cut off areas of Chitrakonda.

As many as 10 members of the family of Kamal Khila took the decision as the rebels branded their son working outside the State as police informer.

"As my eleder son recently left for Andhra in search of job, the Maoists thought that he works for police. They called me up and threatened me of dire consequence if I don't produce my son before them. Fearing them, we vacated village and came to Chitrakonda," Khila said.

For the last few days, several villagers were subjected to frequent assaults by the red rebels and reportedly left village due to the constant threats by the extremists.

The villagers said Maoists threatened to punish them in 'praja court' if they don't follow their order.
