Death of Cong leader shrouded in mystery

Cuttack: The death of a Congress leader in the city here last is shrouded in mystery Family members have alleged the murder of their kin Sanjit Bhuyan, a Congress leader who died on the way to SCB Hospital on Wednesday night.

Reports said the locals found the body of Sanjit Bhuyan, secretary of Cuttack Nagar Congress, lying unconscious along the road side in Purighat area on Wednesday night and informed the police.

Police admitted Bhuyan to the SCB Medical College and Hospital from where he was shifted to Ashwini Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Later, the family members lodged a complaint with Purighat Police Station alleging that their kin has been murdered by some miscreants.

On the basis of the complaint, police have started investigation into the incident.

Giving details to the media, Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora said the police got the information of a road accident at about 1.45 PM in Ring Road area. Police later rushed to the spot and admitted Bhuyan to SCB Medical College and Hospital from where he was shifted to Ashwini Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

“Prima facie investigation suggests that it was a case of accident. But since the family members have alleged that it was a murder case, we have requested the doctors to conduct a thorough post mortem of the deceased,” he added.
