Kendrapara: A case has been filed against Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda at the local SDJM court today alleging the parliamentarian of submitting false affidavit during the 2014 general elections. The case has been filed by a resident of Kendrapara Sadar area identified as Dillip Das.
"I have filed a case in Kendrapara SDJM court as the MP had submitted a false affidavit. I will accept the verdict of the court," said petitioner, Dillip Das.
However, Panda's political secretary Jyoti Prakash Ghose termed the poll affidavit case against the parliamentarian baseless.
"A similar case had been filed earlier and from all these cases it is clear that conspirators are scared. People of Odisha will give a befitting reply," he added.
Earlier on March 15, a resident of Harianta of Cuttack district, Gopal Lenka had also filed a plea at the SDJM court through his lawyer Akshay Nayak alleging Panda had concealed information in his poll affidavit.
The petitioner had sought registration of case against the parliamentarian under section 125 (A) of the Representation of the People Act.
In response, Baijayant Panda in a tweet had said, “Everyone knows who drummed up such false allegations, I am confident to get justice from ECI & Court.”
The case is sub-judice.
