Bhubaneswar: In a major twist to the ongoing tussle in the Odisha Congress, president of the student’s wing of the party Itish Pradhan today suspended spokesperson of State Chhatra Congress spokesperson Ajay Panda from the party for involvement in anti-party activities.

Notably, the disciplinary committee of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) had issued show cause notice on Thursday to OPCC Secretary Biswajit Das and several leaders of the State unit of National Students' Union of India for shouting slogans after barging into a hotel room on Wednesday where Odisha in-charge BK Hariprasad was holding talks. Das and the NSUI leaders had alleged Hariprasad showed disrespect to Lulu Mohapatra by not attending his funeral.

Earlier in the day, some student leaders raised slogans against Hariprasad and burnt the effigy of the party Odisha in-charge in front of the main gate of Utkal University here.

Akash Kumar, a Chhatra Congress leader present at the scene, said Hariprasad will not be allowed to enter Bhubaneswar if the show cause notices were not withdrawn.
