Fake university unearthed in Baripada

Baripada: In a shocking revelation, a fake university has been found to be running in the name of North Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology at Baripada in Mayurbhanj district.

As per information, acting upon a letter to check the authenticity of a certificate of a Haryana-based student, authorities of the North Orissa University (NOU) found that it has been issued by North Odisha University of Engineering and Technology in Baripada. Since there is no such university in Baripada, the authorities marked the certificate as fake. They also noticed that the fake varsity has been indulged in many irregularities like posting of pictures of other agriculture and technical institutes under its website and self affiliating itself to NOU.

Speaking to media persons the Registrar of NOU Sadananda Nayak said “We informed the UGC head about the issue. After a thorough verification, the UGC made a declaration in its website mentioning that the North Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology is a fake one.”

The NOU authorities have also brought the matter to the notice of the Crime Branch.
