Deogarh/Bhawanipatna: In separate incidents, Odisha police seized counterfeit currencies worth nearly Rs 2,40,500 and arrested six persons in connection with the same in Deogarh and Kalahandi districts.

Deogarh Police busted a fake note-printing unit and arrested four persons while seizing counterfeit currencies worth Rs 1,74,000.

The arrested persons have been identified as Rajkishore Sahu (37) of Angul, Jhashaketana Dehury of Subarnapur district, Sudan Biswal, Sumant Bhoi and Pratap Behera of Deogarh.

Deogarh SDPO Suleman Ekka and Inspector in-charge of Deogarh Police Station Asish Chandra Jena told mediapersons that apart from fake notes they have seized a printer and paper used for printing fake currency notes.

In another incident, Kesinga police also seized forty fake notes of Rs 2000 and 500 denominations from a man at Palam village.

As per sources, one Govind Rao went to a shop where he gave a fake Rs 500 note to the shopkeeper. However, after seeing the note the shopkeeper alerted some locals and caught Rao.

Later, Kesinga police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the matter and seized 31 fake notes of Rs 2000 and 9 notes of Rs 500 denominations.
