Rayagada: Rayagada police have intensified probe into the seizure of fake currency worth Rs 10,000 recovered from the possession of three persons who are suspected to be a part of a major inter-state racket.

The three accused Dashmant Jena, his son Ranjan Jena of Kolnara village and Rajkumar Pani of Putasingh village were arrested along with fake Rs 500 denomination notes on Thursday.

According to reports, the local village committee had detained the trio while it was trying to circulate the fake currency during the ongoing Chaitra mela at Jinjalibadi village under Chandil police limits yesterday.

Police officials suspect the involvement of a major fake currency racket that has spread its roots spread to neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

All the three accused have been produced before the court while further investigation in connection with the seizure of fake notes is on, said Inspector-in-charge of Chandil police station, Manoj Behera.
