Fake currency notes seized, 1 held

Nabarangpur: Police today busted a fake currency note racket at Bharamajhiguda village under Tentulikhunti police limits in the district.

The fake notes worth Rs 72,000 were seized and an accused allegedly involved in the illegal trade was arrested. The notes are denomination of Rs 500, police said.

The accused, Sadasiv Majhi, will be produced in court tomorrow, police said, adding his mother and sister have been detained and are being interrogated.

Efforts are on to ascertain others’ involvement in the manufacturing of fake notes, police added. Investigation is in progress under the supervision of Papadahandi SDPO.
