Explosives recovered in Koraput

Jeypore: BSF personnel recovered a huge cache of explosives from inside a culvert in Koraput district today.

Reports said the jawans of the 143 Battalion of BSF found a bag inside a culvert on the Tanginiguda-Dasamantapur road near Baipariguda while on a combing operation this morning.

After opening the bag, they found a huge cache of explosives, which included two tiffin bombs, 22 electric detonators, 25 gelatin sticks, a 12-volt battery and 45 metres of flexible wire.

The BSF personnel brought these explosives to their base camp at Baipariguda.

It is suspected that the Maoists had hidden the explosives for use against the police and the Central forces.

Following the recovery of these explosives, combing operation has been intensified in the area, the reports added.
