Executive engineer in Vigilance net; Rs 9.3 lakh cash seized

Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Saturday night arrested Executive engineer of General Public Health Dayanidhi Samal while he was taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a contractor to provide him a contract.

According to Vigilance sources, sleuths of the agency conducted raids at Samal’s house in Cuttack, his ancestral house and his office and seized Rs 9.3 lakh in cash.

Besides, it also seized gold jewellery, luxury vehicles and gold coins from Samal’s house during the raid.

The anti corruption wing of Odisha Police also found bank deposits of worth Rs 25 lakh and three plots worth Rs 1 crore in the name of Samal and his relatives.
