Bhubaneswar: Keeping the desperation of the people in the exchange of old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes which have been declared invalid by the Centre recently, the Department of Post, Government of India, has decided to keep post offices in all states including Odisha open on Sunday.

As informed by the Postmaster General (PMG), Odisha Circle, instructions have been given to all post offices in the district to keep the office open on Sunday to facilitate the people in the exchange of the aforesaid invalid currency notes.

Apart from the people, customers who have opened their account in post offices can exchange their invalid currency notes. Besides, they can also deposit the invalid currencies in their own postal account, the PMG said.
