Bhubaneswar: The Khurda district administration on Wednesday started eviction at the Trahi Achyuta ashram here, which was constructed by arrested Sura Baba alias Surendra Mishra on encroached government land.

According to sources, the district administration will raze the buildings, including hospital, post office, Dola Mandap and Pothi griha, constructed over an encroached piece of land measuring an area of about one acre.

Besides, a road constructed by the godman on government land and a 15-decimal piece of land, which was used as a dumping ground, will also be reclaimed during the exercise, the sources added.

“We will completely demolish the area since it is an encroachment on the government land and take possession. Revenue Inspector will take possession of the land, we have already put up hoarding of the same. We are evicting 50 decimals of land,” said Khurda sub-collector Binay Kumar Das.

“BDA planning authority and officials had visited the site and will take appropriate step in future”, said Das added.

The eviction drive at the ashram is being headed by Balianta tehsildar. Adequate police forces have been deployed in the locality to avoid any untoward incident.

Notably, Ashram chief Sura Baba alias Surendra Mishra and his two sons, Trilochan and Biranchi are currently lodged in Jharpada Special Jail on the allegation of various frauds and encroachment of Government land.
