Malkangiri: The death toll due to Japanese Encephalitis reached 121 in Malkangiri after a girl child undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital died on Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Santoshi Nayak (2)  of Tarakaguda area under Mathili block in the district.

Meanwhile, the district administration has geared up to launch vaccination drive from December 5 to curb the spread of the vector-borne disease.

According to sources, the district administration has identified 21,827 kids belongs to 1-15 age groups for the vaccination programme.

The district administration has planned to start the vaccination against Japanese Encephalitis from 8 am to 3 pm daily for two weeks, sources added.

While the teachers have been given the responsibility of vaccination in the district, the drive will be reviewed by the senior officials of the district administration.
