Encephalitis claims two more lives; toll mounts to 60

Malkangiri: The toll due to Japanese Encephalitis clamped to 60 today with two more deaths in the district on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as Ganesh Bisoi (5) of Majhiguda in Mathili block and Rina Soem (3) of Bhajaguda under Padia block.

According to sources, Ganesh succumbed to Japanese Encephalitis while undergoing treatment at ICU of Malkangiri district headquarters hospital, Rina died of the vector-borne disease while being treated at Andhra Pradesh Bhadranchlam hospital.

Surprisingly, one of the deceased, Rina was discharged from the district headquarters hospital after being cured.

With the two more deaths, the toll due to the deadly disease climbed to 60 in last 41 days.
