Malkangiri: The death toll in Japanese Encephalitis went up to 74 in Malkangiri district today with the death of two more children.

While a baby girl Mamata Madhi of Buduriguda village under Korukonda block died at the district headquarters hospital, a baby boy Bhima Madhi of Gouriguda village under Kalimela block succumbed to his illness at Kalimela Community Health Centre (CHC).

With this, the Encephalitis death toll in the district has gone up to 74 in 51 days despite several preventive measures taken up by the Health department, reports said.

Informing the media here in the afternoon, Malkangiri District BJP president Ashok Parida said Union Petroleum and Natural Gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan is scheduled to visit the district on November 4 for an on-the-spot review of the situation in the district.
