Employee’s death ignites agitation at Bargarh Co-Op Sugar Mills

Bargarh: Tension over the death of an employee of Bargarh Cooperative Sugar Mills Ltd on its campus Sunday night during work continued for long. The other employees sat on dharna demanding compensation to the family of the deceased and security to the employees working in the organisation.

The deceased was identified as Ramlal Gupta, a resident of Bihar. He was working as an operator in the Sugar Mill for last 30 years.

Talking to mediapersons, Sanjay Kumar Gupta, son of Ramlal, alleged, “Such incident could have been avoided had the company provided security measures like mask and helmet. The company is therefore responsible for my father's death."

Administrative Officer of the Sugar Mill, Nilamadhab Nayak, said, "As per the discussions held by the Board, insurance amount will be paid to the family of the deceased and we have assured to employ a person of his family and provide Rs 1 lakh compensation."
