Elephant carcasses found in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: Carcasses of an adult elephant and a calf were found near Raghubal village under Mahabirada forest range in Parjang block of Dhenkanal district on Wednesday morning.

While one is a female elephant the other is suspected to be its calf.

According to sources, the locals spotted the carcasses in the forest near Raghubala village and informed the divisional forest officer (DFO) who rushed to the spot.

An investigation has been launched by the DFO & veterinary experts.

It is suspected that the jumbos died some five days back while the exact cause of their deaths is yet to be ascertained.
