Elephant carcass found in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: Carcass of a more than 10 year-old female elephant was found near Haladiamba orchard under Rengali range of Sambalpur district on Sunday.

Forest department staff, who reached the spot after getting information from villagers, said the pachyderm's age was likely in between 10 and 15 years.

Though it is suspected that the elephant died of sunstroke, the exact cause of death could be ascertained only after post mortem, forest officials said.
