Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday asked the officials of Energy department to provide electricity to all villages across the state by March, 2017.

While reviewing the status of rural electrification projects at state secretariat here, the chief minister directed to expedite the process to meet the deadline of ensuring electricity to each and every household in the state by 2019.

The meeting revealed that, the government has provided electricity to 2,156 villages during last year but there are more 1318 villages are yet to be electrified.

Pranab Prakash Das, Energy minister, said, “There are more than 3,300 villages in the state. We have electrified more than 2,000 villages so far and the remaining villages will get electricity by March, 2017.
