Bhubaneswar: Out of 47,677 villages in Odisha, 47,000 villages have been electrified, said Energy minister Prafulla Kumar Mallick while reviewing the achievements of his department today.

Odisha has become a power surplus state with 100 new sub-stations set up. The loss in commercial electricity has been reduced to 35 percent from 57 percent and more than 2000 employees have received appointment in energy department and its subsidiary institutions, said Mallick during the review.

He further added that electricity will be available for all within 2019.

“While 6,600 transformers have been provided to Power distribution companies (Discoms) till date, 8,400 transformers will be provided to them in coming days. Similarly, the number of transformers distributed has reached to two lakh from 40,000 and has seen an increase of 56,000 in the last three years,” briefed Mallick to media persons.

Similary, Minister of Women and Child Development Department Prafulla Samal also declared the achievements during the review of his department.

He mentioned about success of Mamata Yojana, development of Anganwadi centres and various other infrastructural developments.

Biju Sishu Suraksha Yojana (BSSY), Biju Kanya Ratna Yojana (BKRY), Women helpline and accomplishment of the State in Nutrition Index, was also mentioned by Samal.
