Eggs hurled at city Mayor’s house

Bubaneswar: The BJP Yuva Morcha activist hurled eggs at the residence of city Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena at Bapuji Nagar here early morning today protesting his alleged involvement in the sex scandal video and murder engineering student Asutosh Mohanty alias Rishi.

The activists hurled eggs the nameplate, main gate and vehicle of the Mayor. They also dug the BJP party flag in front of his house. Shouting various slogans, the activists demanded arrest and dismissal of the Mayor.

The Mayor said, "Four youth wearing masks came on two bikes. While two of them started hurling eggs at my house while the rest two were recording a video of the incident. They also abused me in filthy language."

However, BJP Yuva Morcha president Tankadhar Tripathy denied the report and said, "It is not a planned act of the BJP Yuva Morcha. The incident is just a reflection of people’s agony towards the Mayor. What can we do if some youths do such things by using the name of BJP Yuva Morcha. We are not responsible if some body has done it personally."

Morcha general secretary Bijay Nayak also denied the report and condemned the egg attack incident terming it as undemocratic. Earlier on Monday, the BJP staged a ‘Chaka Jam’ agitation for two hours in all civic bodies across the state. BJP State President Basant Panda also denied the report of hurling eggs at the Mayor's house.
