Balasore: Odisha police on Monday dropped attempt to murder charge (Section 307 IPC) against Rajeswari Kamila, who was earlier arrested for hurling eggs at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during Talsari beach festival here recently.
Balasore SP Niti Sekhar informed that a case has been registered under section 353, 332 & 506 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and investigation is still in progress.
In another development, Rajeswari was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital after her health condition deteriorated today. She was first admitted to Balasore district headquarters hospital from Jaleswar jail.
Earlier, Rajeswari was arrested for hurling eggs at the dais of the Chief Minister when he was addressing a public meeting at Talsari on January 31.
Rajeswari, wife of local BJP leader Dillip Kamila, had hurled eggs protesting the detention of her husband ahead of the CM's visit.
Earlier, a local court in Jaleswar on Saturday had sent her to judicial custody till February 8.
Rajeswari was subjected to torture in police custody and was also not allowed to meet her seven-month-old child, alleged BJP leader Lekhashree Samantsinghar.
