Egg attack: CM directs police to drop all cases against Rajeswari Kamila

Bhubaneswar: After dropping attempt to murder charge (Section 307), Odisha government has now decided to withdraw all cases registered against Rajeswari Kamila who had earlier hurled eggs at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Talsari in Balasore.

Patnaik on Sunday directed senior officials of Odisha police to withdraw all cases that were registered against Rajeswari, who was arrested in connection with the case.

Rajeswari had hurled eggs at the Chief Minister during a meeting at Talsari block in Balasore on January 31.

Rajeswari, who was allegedly assaulted by BJD workers, is now undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital. Meanwhile, she has been granted bail by the court.

"I will continue to raise my voice against injustice and the way I was beaten up by BJD workers shows that women are not safe in Odisha," said Rajeswari.

Earlier, police on February 5 had dropped attempt to murder charges (Section 307 of IPC) that it had levelled against her.

Sources said, cases under Sections 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 294 (anyone indulging in an obscene act in any public place or sings or utters any obscene songs or words in any public place causing annoyance to others) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of IPC were registered against Kamila.
