English Language Training for the Rural Youth, a one month long free residential English language training programme, organised by English Support – An English Language Teaching Forum, was inaugurated at Dantenswari High School at Behera under Dharamgarh Block of Kalahandi district on May 13.

It is the season 2 of the free English language training programme, an initiative taken by alumni of English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) Hyderabad to empower the rural youths of Kalahandi and nearby districts.

The training programme has been divided into two phases of 15 days each. Local resource persons including English Lecturer from Raj Chauria College Kodinga, Nabarangpur, Panchanan Duria; English Teacher of Saraswati Sishu Mandir, Koksara, Debendra Raut and Teacher Trainer Bhakta Charan Bhoi will be providing training to the participants in the first phase.

Assistant Professors of English from ANITS College, Vishakhapatnam, B Ramya Devi and B Lalitha Devi; Former Assistant Professor of English of RISE Group of Institutions, Hyderabad, Lingaraj Pradhan; Assistant Professor of English of Geetanjali College of Engineering of Technology, Hyderabad, Karuna Lairsan and Assistant Professor of English of Government Arts College (Autonomous) Chennai, C Manikandan will take charge of training in the second phase.

The courses covered in the programme include, Spoken English, Communication Skills, Vocabulary and Basic Grammar.

Nearly 150 participants including students, teachers, job holders and job seekers including six students of District Institute for Education and Training (DIET), Bhawanipatna have enrolled for the training programme.

The inauguration event was graced by Dharamgarh Block Chairman Balaram Pujhari as Chief Guest and Senior English Lecturer of Dharamgarh Panchayat College Bibhuti Bhusan Panda as Chief Speaker.

Zilla Parishad Member of Dharamgarh Zone-2 Bimala Bag, Teacher Educator of DIET Boudh Murti Kumar, Advocate Digambar Duria, and Social Worker Anand Thakur were the Guests of Honour in the function.

Other dignitaries present during the event were Behera College Principal Nirmal Chandra Naik, Founder of GM Public School Tulsiram Agrawal, and Teacher Educator Sudhansu Sekhar Panda.
