Bhubaneswar: The ruling BJD once again got into trouble as its Dharmasala MLA Pranab Balabantaray was today interrogated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for over 3 hours in connection with his alleged business links with arrested gangster siblings Sushant and Sushil Dhalasamanta (D Brothers).

As per sources, the Directorate is scanning various business and financial transactions of Balabantray’s transport company, Pranab Minerals and Transport with the D-brothers and investigating who has earned how much profit in all the transactions that have been made.

Earlier, ED had summoned the Dharmasala MLA and directed him to appear before it and furnish all documents and audit reports of his transport company from 2005 to 2010.

Soon after the interrogation, Balabantaray said, “ED asked me about two things. As per the directions, I have furnished all required documents to them. I was quizzed over business dealings and I refute having links with gangster Dhala Samanta-brothers.”

Meanwhile, protesting the criminal activities of the BJD MLA, the Congress launched a mass protest in Dharmasala and demanded Balabantaray’s resignation by burning his effigies on the street.

“Dharmasala is a pride for us. A corrupt MLA who has links with gangsters cannot rule this area. We demand his resignation and arrest. In the coming days, protests will be intensified,” stated Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary, Srinath Mishra.

It may be noted here that the MLA was earlier grilled by the CBI last year over land corruption and his alleged links in the AT chit fund scam. Prior to that, he was also grilled on charges of possessing more than one government plot and flats.
