Nabarangpur: After months of complaints fell on deaf ears, the Congress activists of Nabarangpur district on Saturday staged an agitation and blocked roads demanding sanitation and resolving the garbage dumping issue in the area. They also went on to dump garbage of the town right outside the collector's office.

Alleging negligence by officials concerned, the activists first staged a two-hour road blockade on the NH-26 along with blocking the road to the Super Market.

Later, they gathered all the garbage dumped in the Super Market area, loaded it in a tractor and headed to the district Collector's residential office. Reaching there, they dumped all the collected garbage outside the office.

The activists alleged that the district administration has shown no signs of interest in making the city garbage-free, neither has it made attempts to bring proper sanitation in the area.

Asked, former MP Pradeep Majhi said," This has become a town of mosquitoes and flies. The drains have become full and sewer water has started entering into houses. Not a single day they are using the mosquito repellent spray vehicle. We dumped all the garbage outside Collector’s office. It’s a warning to the officials.”
