Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today hit back at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the dubious poll funding row and dubbed the latter as a party with a tendency to politicise each and every issue.

Speaking to media persons, a day after the Supreme Court (SC) issued notices to BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and others in connection with alleged discrepancies in poll funding, BJD's Rajya Sabha member Pratap Deb said the government has already cleared its stand on the issue and there is nothing to hide.

"We don't need to hide anything as we have been transparent on the issue. People of Odisha know the truth. Besides, BJD doesn't need to threaten anyone with anything," he said.

The apex court yesterday issued notices to CM Naveen, State Election Commission (SEC), the district collector of Ganjam and the district electoral officer while hearing the petition filed by Subash Mohapatra seeking transfer of the dubious poll funding case to Delhi High Court. The SC has sought reply within three weeks.

Replying to the comments of BJP vice-president, Sameer Mohanty that the petitioner had to move the SC as he suspected manipulation of facts if the case rests with the Orissa High Court, Deb said the move of the petitioner proved that he has no faith on the HC and he even doubts the honestly and credibility of the judges here.

“BJP is trying to see Naveen in the dock at any cost and by any means,” said Deb.
