Dreaded criminal Soumyaranjan Sahoo injured in police encounter

Cuttack: Resuming its crackdown on anti-social elements in the twin city, Commissionerate Police nabbed wanted criminal Soumyaranjan Sahoo after a shootout here on Thursday.

According to reports, Sahoo was arrested after an encounter by Commissionerate Police at Choudwar area late last night.

Sahoo sustained a bullet injury on his leg and has been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital. A bike, one pistol and three live bullets have been seized from his possession.

A total of 12 criminal cases are pending against Sahoo at various police stations in the city, informed a police official.

Two dreaded criminals, Harihar Samal aka Hari Mental and Lipu, were earlier nabbed after an encounter by Commissionerate police at Balianta on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
