Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government on Wednesday felicitated students belonging to the Dongria Kondh tribal community in Rayagada for successfully clearing the matriculation examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha.

Chief Minisiter Naveen Patnaik today felicitated 34 students including 25 girls for their extraordinary achievement keeping in view their socio-economic conditions.

Patnaik congratulated the students and later gifted them tablets at a special function held at the Secretariate.

“Education is the greatest weapon to bring a change and development. I congratulate the Dongria students for their success in the matriculation examination. The achievement of the students will continue to inspire other students also,” said CM Naveen Patnaik.

Earlier, the news that nine girls from the Dongria Kondh, a particularly vulnerable tribal group, residing in Rayagada district cleared the matriculation examination had elicited positive response from people across the state.

Praises poured in for the girl students of Kansur Educational Complex managed by Dongria Kondh Development Authority (DKDA) near Kalyansinghpur in the district for clearing the High School Certificate Examination.

SC & ST Welfare Minister Ramesh Majhi said that the effort of Odisha Government is to ensure that how Dongaria and other tribe students excel in education.

This year 95.94 percent SC & ST students have passed in the matriculation examination against 95.61 students last year. Already special education complex set up in different parts are functioning well in the state, Majhi added.
