Dolphin carcass found on Puri beach

Puri: The carcass of a rare bottlenose dolphin was found on Puri beach on Saturday.

According to sources, the carcass was found near Digabareni ghat on the beach. It was spotted by visitors who alerted the forest officials.

Being informed about the incident, officials of Puri forest division rushed to the spot and seized the body of the mammal and later sent it for postmortem.

Though the exact reason behind the death is unknown, it is suspected that the dolphin might have died after being hit by a trawler. The reason can be know after the completion of autopsy, forest official said.
