Doctor thrashes woman in delivery room during labour

Bhadrak: In a bizarre incident, a doctor of Chandbali Community Health Centre allegedly thrashed a woman admitted for delivery on Wednesday.

The woman, identified as Subhalaxmi Behera of Nalgohira village, was admitted to the hospital for delivery on Wednesday noon. On Thursday, she was transferred to the delivery room after she complained of labour pain.

Subhalaxmi said the doctor on duty, Pradumna Kumar Sahu, allegedly thrashed her. Besides, an Asha worker, identified as Sabitri Barik who was on duty at that time, admitted to the doctor's assault.

Meanwhile, the medical officer-in-charge of CHC, Chandbali Gayadhar Sahu said he has not yet received any complaint regarding the assault.
